On Detection of Minute EMF Using Multivibrator Circuit

Abstract
The detection of minute emf using multivibrator circuit proposed by L. Budan is experimentally examined for various circuit constants, and the results are theoretically considered. The results are summarized as follows.
ⅰ) A dead zone is observed in output curves for larger interconnecting capacitances and less bias voltages.
ⅱ) The expression for the output pulse is derived theoretically, which well explains the various output pulse rate obtained experimentally. Here the transient potentials due to the interconnecting capacitances are taken into consideration.
ⅲ) It is proposed that for the best operation, the transient potential d should be so chosen that d/σ is about 0.6 where σ is the standard deviation of noise.
