Summary MMA was graft polymerized onto rayon in emulsion and aqueous solution in the absence of an initiator, and some properties of fiber and cloth grafted were examined. It has been found that M M A graft polymerize the easier onto rayon than onto cotton, and that the values of weigh5t increase of rayon very with the changes of kind of emullifier and time and temperature of polymerization. Use of non-ionic surfactant is more effective than that ionic ones. Physical properties of fibers (tensile, knot and loop strength, and moisture and water abso-rption) are decreased by MMA grafting. Flex fatigue of cloth is increased by grafing and crease recovery is almost unchanged.
