音楽環境に関する鳥取県下中学生の意識

The preference and attitude toward music and the musical enviroment of second grade students of junior high school in Tottori Prefecture were studied. The result showed big defferences among the schools as well as between sexes. The overall results were as follows: Girls Generally showed more interest in music than boys. They preferred listening to music(72%:42%), singing songs(40%:15%) and olaying musical instruments(32%:14%) as well as intending to choose future professions relating to music(11%:7%). This general attitude to music correlated with their parent's attitudes. The girl's parents sang songs and played musical instruments at home more than boy's parents. When do they listen to music? 97% of students answered "right after finishing home study" and "when one feels like relaxing". 94% of students answered "during free time" and "during study". What Kinds of things do they have at home which relate to the musical environment? 96% of families owned televisions sets, 96% owned radio cassetts, 69% had recorders, 61% had stereo sets, 30% had pianos and 25% had guiters. Fifty nine percent said they more fond of listening to music and only 1% said they dis liked music. Pop and rock were especially preferred. In the free answers, srudents were highly critical of the music class in school, which suggests that it may be necessary to reconsider the teaching and evaluation of these classes, as well as the music selected for these classes.
