Problem with advertisement
Abilities to be attained
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the following two issues : how to introduce the problems with advertisement into the study of home making as a kind of consumer education, and what abilities are required to be attained in the education. Investigation of those issues are made through a survey of junior high school students' awareness concerning advertisement. The following two general observations have been gained through the survey : junior high school students' understanding of advertisement in not sufficient because some of them believe that indication of quality guaranteed, school newsletter and so on are included in advertisement ; although junior high school students are sensitive to prices of products when making use of advertisement, they are less active in making a good use of advertisement by comparing functions of products as well as their length guarantee. Recognize the present situation, a model of "abilities to be attained" in school advertisement education is hypothetically presented (Table 8). It is also pointed out that it is necessary to continue the study by investigating the issue of advertisement with elementary and senior high school students and exploring the effective ways of advertisement education in their respective curriculum. This naturally requires specification of abilities to be attained in each advertisement education and adjustment of teaching contents.
