In the class, second- and third-graders formed groups to make battery-operated toys using familiar materials and explained the mechanism of the toys. Through the exchange of knowledge between students of different grades, the students deepened their understanding, improved their sense of responsibility by sharing roles, and enhanced their problem-solving skills through making things. In particular, the third graders explained the concept of ions to the second graders, and the second graders taught circuit design. On the other hand, issues such as time setting and the burden of preparation became apparent, and it will be necessary to devise time management and efficient preparation methods in the future. The joint classes with different grades are an effective means of promoting deep learning through cooperation, and the results provide guidelines for improving future
