We are now in an era where living without using information devices such as smartphones and tablets is considered unusual. Even in schools, following the COVID-19 pandemic, tablet-based learning has become the norm. In junior high school English classes, incorporating machine translation and generative AI is seen as aligned with the trends of the times. This study created scenarios where machine translation and generative AI were used during language activities, specifically \"speaking\" and \"writing,\" to examine whether these tools contribute to the improvement of students' English proficiency. The results suggested that, particularly in \"writing,\" the use of these tools has the potential to enhance students' English
