| 内容記述 | Point-of-care ultrasound （POCUS） is gaining attention for its utility in various clinical settings. This retrospective observational study examined the use of a handheld ultrasound device in a university hospital ward and considered factors influencing its adoption among healthcare staff. The device, Pocket Echo miruco （Nippon Sigmax Co., Ltd.; 3.5 MHz convex probe）, was installed in the gastroenterology and nephrology ward at Tottori University Hospital. Usage data were collected from a self-recorded log between May 2021 and May 2022. A total of 132 uses were recorded, all by physicians （98% gastroenterologists, 2% nephrologists）. The most frequent use was for paracentesis guidance （60%）, followed by post-procedural bleeding checks, ascites evaluation, and inferior vena cava assessment. The median usage time was 30 minutes （range: 5–70）. Usage increased following an internal awareness initiative, suggesting that simple promotional activities can encourage behavioral change and facilitate the spread of handheld POCUS. No usage by nurses was observed, indicating the need for improved training opportunities and clarification of roles. These findings highlight the importance of both equipment availability and effective communication strategies to support broader, multidisciplinary use of handheld POCUS in inpatient care. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
