However, mixed-gender classes in health and physical education are still rare. We tried mixed-gender classes in hurdling, as a trigger to shift the health and physical education in our junior high school to mixed-gender classes. Records of the classes and questionnaires filled in by the students revealed, 1) time records of different genders and the forms that serve as good examples were stimulating and 2) it enhanced comments and advice for better hurdling skills, as beneficial effects. On the other hand, some students felt difficulty in getting skills, in spite of a lot of advice presented, as a demerit.
