We practiced classes of “Solar system” where students can deepen their understanding for the “solar system” cooperatively by incorporating students’ proactive learning. Goals of the classes were set at acquisition of total images of the solar system though making “a plan to build a structure model of the solar system” incorporating a method of jigsaw. In consequence, students showed a proactive attitude such as deepening and shaping their ideas through the discussion in each of the groups based on the information self-gathered. Analyses of the questionnaires before and after the classes revealed steady progress in students’ understanding and knowledge on the “structure of the solar system”. A lot of ideas for making a model easy to understand were presented in the posters prepared after the
