An analysis of questionnaire conducted after the classes showed that students were able to not only enhance their ability to read music but deepen their understanding on music expression. Students who attended the classes also showed challenging attitude, such as making posters by themselves to understand musical signs or musical notes of different lengths in the choral lessens conducted after the experimental classes. Thus, it was found that materials provided under the theme of the lesson study in Tottori University Junior High School in 2018 “Cultivation of students’ powers to be self-reliant, cooperative, inquiring, and creative” were effective for the improvement of music
