| 内容記述 | Summary: The purpose of this paper is to investigate some of the intrinsic properties that characterize the so-called 'S+V+O+C' Construction in English. The paper begins with a brief comparison between the 'functional' approach postulated by Nakajima to the analysis of the sentence pattern and the treatment of English syntax presented in transformational generative grammar. It then surveys the construction , and attempts to offer alternatives to some of them. It specifically discusses and compares five English sentences included under the construction (I saw him running off. I think him honest. I think him to be honest. I want you to go. I cannot understand him behaving like that.) utilizing the notions and terms proposed in the thesis. The paper concludes by providing the results in the form of new formulae. | |||||||||
