| 内容記述 | The objective of this study was to identify the characteristics and factors associated with Work Engagement （WE） in nurses working at psychiatric hospitals. A total of 280 nurses employed at psychiatric hospitals in Tottori Prefecture were asked to participate in an anonymous questionnaire. The WE （Utrecht Work Engagement Scale: Abbreviated Japanese Version）, the work environment and emotional labor of the individual nurse were investigated. Results showed that nurses who were satisfied with their work environment had significantly higher WE scores than those who were not. Moreover, nurses who were actively engaged in emotional labor, i.e., careful of how they expressed their emotions, conscious of their tone and behavior, and aware of the limit of what they could or could not bear when they could not express their emotions, also had significantly higher WE scores. The nurses studied found that as opportunities to use their ideas and judgement in their work increased, they were better able to maintain and enhance their positive and fulfilled psychological states. Furthermore, they became aware of their feelings towards patients and through selfcontrol of these feelings, they were better able to improve dedication to their work and maintain and enhance their WE. | |||||
